I felt it would be informative for those trying to astral project to read a little exercise that might be of some help. As a practitioner as well I have learned this through my studies. 

The Rope Technique

Relax very deeply and put yourself into a trance through whatever method you use. Then imagine moving your astral hands and arms a bit. See them reaching up and work the fingers. Feel them more than see them. After such time imagine a rope which you can grab to pull yourself out of your body.

Do not see the actual rope!

Know that it is there and feel it with your astral hands. Just feel it and use it to pull your way out of your body.

I personally have used this technique a few times and it does not help me that much, but may be of some use to you all.
